We are very proud of our school and the part it has played in the lives of generations of the Belmont community. The School Council is here to serve our school so we endeavour to support Andrew and the teaching team in whatever ways we can. As our school has grown in recent years we have also needed to expand and diversify the work that we do. Our Parent Club is now a micro-business managing a variety of events where learning is just as important as the earning. So our special lunches might encourage a healthy attitude to food or uniform sales recycle clothing and help to foster pride in our appearance. On the administrative front, the Council has established several sub-committees where we can draw upon expertise in a variety of necessary areas. In recent years, we have enhanced our grounds, increasing the play areas and built vegetable gardens for students to grow their own plants. Behind the scenes we have also ensured that the School is able to comply with, for example, health and safety or mandatory reporting requirements.
Our Council meets twice a term to review and refine the work undertaken and also help ensure that the actions taken by the school are for the benefit of the whole community. You can find out more information by going to:http://www.schoolgovernance.vic.edu.au/12-what-school-councils-do
If you have any concerns, or would like to contribute to the school in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me so that we can all aim to make Oberon Primary the best it can be.
